    Starting lineups:

Utah Mammoth: Vejmelka (Vaněček) – Sergačjov, Durzi, Schmidt, Marino, Cole, Määttä – Keller, Schmaltz, Peterka – Crouse, Hayton, Guenther – Carcone, McBain, But – O’Brien, Stenlund, Yamamoto.

    Coach: André Tourigny

Seattle Kraken: Grubauer (Daccord) – Dunn, Larsson, R. Lindgren, Montour, Oleksiak, Mahura – Tolvanen, Beniers, Eberle – Marchment, Stephenson, Gaudreau – Nyman, S. Wright, Kakko – Kartye, Meyers, Winterton.

    Coach: Lane Lambert

Officials: Schlenker, McCauley – Apperson, Jackson.

Matches between Utah and Seattle tend to be very entertaining. Especially for the neutral fan who doesn’t support a specific team and enjoys the higher goal totals these games produce. Last season Seattle won the home games 5–2 and 4–1, while Utah replied at home with a 7–1 drubbing. This season it will be their first meeting.

Utah sits just outside the top eight in the Western Conference on points, but they are carrying a three-game losing streak. The Mammoth lost in Calgary and then at home to Los Angeles and Florida, conceding four goals in both of those games. It’s the inconsistency in defensive performances that somewhat spoils otherwise solid offensive showings, as the attack doesn’t always outshoot the opposition.

Seattle, in their last game, beat Los Angeles on home ice and snapped a six-game losing streak. After that very poor run the Kraken slipped out of the Western Conference’s top eight, but sitting eleventh they’re currently only two points back.

Welcome to our live coverage. The game starts at 3:00.

The visitors did make the game dramatic in the third period thanks to a goal by Burakovsky and, although their play was a class better than in the first period, none of the Blackhawks’ players managed to equalize.

    54:08

    Chicago just scored!
And the visitors do it right off the faceoff! Bedard stole the puck from Parayko right under his nose and slipped it into the slot to ANDRÉ BURAKOVSKY, who comfortably beat Hofer and has made the finish of the game dramatic. Assist: Connor Bedard.

    54:03

After the final commercial break the visitors will be looking to get back into the game, but that’ll be difficult against the Blues’ defense today.

    52:37

Icing called on the home team.

    52:23

You could hear the post even behind Hofer! Crevier got plenty of space and hit the left upright of the home net.

At the other end, Burakovsky misses Hofer’s net with his shot.

    51:45

    Head-to-head:

Last season the two teams met at the Winter Classic, when St. Louis won 6-2. In two meetings this season, first in the preseason the Blackhawks lost 0-4, but in mid-October they then convincingly beat the Blues 8-3 on their home ice.

    Chicago Blackhawks:

Chicago isn’t doing much better — they’re just above the Blues, with 32 points after 30 games. They’ve basically had the same record in their last five games: besides two wins they picked up a point for an overtime loss in Vegas. However, in their last contest they shut out the Rangers 3-0. The team around Connor Bedard is struggling on the road. In their last five road games they’ve only won at the Kings 2-1. They lost their previous two games 0-6 and 1-7. The Blackhawks don’t have many players on injured reserve, but forward Nick Foligno is a noticeable absence and defenseman Shea Weber is also missing.

    Most productive players:

    Connor Bedard – 42 points (19 G, 23 A)

    Tyler Bertuzzi – 26 points (16 G, 10 A)

    Frank Nazar – 20 points (5 G, 15 A)

    St. Louis Blues:

St. Louis currently own an 11-13-7 record, sitting on 29 points in the lower half of the Western Conference. They have one of the league’s weakest defenses right now (109 goals against) and have won just twice in their last five games. In their most recent home outing the Blues lost to Boston 5-2. At home they have also only won five of sixteen games, their last home victory coming at the end of November when they beat Utah 1-0. The team is being hampered by an extensive injury list, notably missing defenseman Torey Krug and forwards Jordan Kyrou and Nick Bjugstad.

    Top scorers:

    Robert Thomas – 20 points (6+14)

    Dylan Holloway – 17 points (8+9)

    Jordan Kyrou – 16 points (8+8)
